Thomas H. Engelhardt, CPA, PFS, CMA, brings more than 25 years of experience in public accounting to his position as a Partner at Marks Paneth & Shron LLP. In addition to his Certified Public Accountant license, he is also a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS). While he serves closely held businesses in a broad range of industries, Mr. Engelhardt specializes in contractors, construction-related industries, manufacturing, and professional services, including law, graphic design, engineering, architecture and interior design.

In addition to full accounting services, Mr. Engelhardt also provides consulting services to his clients, offering guidance on issues such as the buying and selling of businesses, mergers and acquisitions, insurance matters, shareholder’s agreements, and employment contracts. Notably, he has contributed to the development of sales tax laws for the graphic design industry.

Mr. Engelhardt is a 2010 recipient of the New York Enterprise Report "Best Accountants for Growing Businesses" award. He was recognized for his consulting and advisory work with a leading New York City branding agency, which he helped remain financially viable during the economic crisis.

Mr. Engelhardt has been with Marks Paneth & Shron and its predecessor firms for more than 20 years. Active in a number of professional associations, he is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), the Institute of Management Accountants, and the Personal Financial Planning division of the American Institute of CPAs. He belongs to several business and networking organizations, including the Subcontractors Trade Association, the American Institute of Graphic Arts, the Turnaround Management Association and the Rainmakers Forum.

A frequent author and lecturer, Mr. Engelhardt regularly gives presentations to financial institutions, covering topics such as the alternative tax and year-end tax planning techniques. He authored “A Guide to Selecting the Best Contractor” for The Real Estate Journal, February 2006.

He has taught accounting and tax courses for the New York University School of Continuing and Professional Studies and has authored the article, “A Guide to Selecting the Best Contractor,” which has been published in the Real Estate Journal. In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Engelhardt donates his time to the Auburndale Civic Association and the Hicksville Baseball Association.

Mr. Engelhardt holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Queens College of the City University of New York. He is based at Marks Paneth & Shron’s midtown Manhattan office and resides on Long Island.
