Clarence B. Jones has built a distinguished and heralded career, in which he has worked as draft speechwriter, personal counsel and adviser to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Twice selected by Fortune Magazine as a “Business Man of the Month”, Mr. Jones’ career spans several decades. He was the first African-American to become a partner in a Wall Street investment banking firm, Carter, Berlind & Weill, Inc. and an Allied Member of the New York Stock Exchange.
Currently, Mr. Jones serves as an Executive Advisor to Marks Paneth & Shron LLP. He is President and CEO of CBJ Multimedia Associates, Inc., specializing in media and telecommunications. Mr. Jones is also Managing Director of CBJ Associates, Inc., a boutique investment banking and consulting services company specializing in governmental, financial and corporate services.
Mr. Jones is a recipient of a White House Letter of Commendation from President William J. Clinton for his work in Birmingham, Alabama on behalf of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement. He was one of the distinguished Honorees of the New York City based Community Works Organization about which an original musical presentation, The Long Walk to Freedom, was written.
Mr. Jones sits on the Board of Trustees of the Theatre Development Fund of The City of New York and the Impact Repertory Theatre and Dance Company. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Third World Press in Chicago, Illinois.
He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia College, Columbia University and his law degree from Boston University School of Law. Mr. Jones was a certificate recipient from the New York Institute of Finance and was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Communications from Allegheny College in Allegheny, Pennsylvania.
