Jay Kaplan, CPA, is a Partner at Marks Paneth & Shron LLP. In this capacity, he provides tax planning and advisory services both to individuals and commercial entities. His areas of specialty include real estate, with an emphasis on co-ops and condominiums, law firms, estates and trusts, and high-net-worth individuals.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Kaplan was a partner at Leipziger & Breskin LLP, a Manhattan-based accounting firm that combined with Marks Paneth & Shron in 2006. Mr. Kaplan spent most of his 30 year career at Leipziger & Breskin, where he made Partner in 1986. As he ascended, he held every professional position in the firm from junior accountant through senior manager.
Mr. Kaplan is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA).
In addition to his professional activities, Mr. Kaplan donates his time and expertise to several community organizations. He is President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Jericho Jewish Center. In addition, Mr. Kaplan is a member of the Board of Governors and a past-president of the University of Pennsylvania Club of Long Island which has honored him with an award for his many years of service to the club and the university.
Jay Kaplan holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics, with a concentration in accounting, from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Science in Taxation from Pace University. He is licensed to practice in New York, and he is based in Marks Paneth & Shron’s Woodbury office. Mr. Kaplan resides in Jericho, New York.
