Solomon Packer, CPA, JD, LLM, is a Senior Consultant at Marks Paneth & Shron LLP in the area of international taxation. In this capacity, Mr. Packer advises foreign persons and corporations on how to do business in the U.S. and, conversely, advises U.S. corporations on how to conduct business overseas in order to effectively reduce their worldwide tax exposure. His areas of specialization include international mergers and acquisitions, tax issues related to foreign ownership of U.S. real estate, tax planning for multinational corporations, taxation of shipping companies, and international estate tax planning.

Prior to being retained by Marks Paneth & Shron, Mr. Packer spent more than 20 years as a Senior International Tax Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.

Both a certified public accountant and an attorney, Mr. Packer is involved with a number of professional organizations. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the New York State Society of CPAs, the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, the Bar Association of the City of New York, the International Fiscal Association, International Tax Institute, and the Maritime Law Association.

In addition to his work at Marks Paneth & Shron, Mr. Packer is presently a Professor of Accounting in the graduate school of Baruch College of the City University of New York where he lectures on International Taxation.

Solomon Packer holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received his Juris Doctor and Master of Law degrees in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He is licensed to practice law in New York and to practice public accounting in New York and Virginia. Based at Marks Paneth & Shron’s midtown Manhattan headquarters, he resides in New Rochelle, New York.
