Laura E. LaForgia, CPA, MST, is a Partner at Marks Paneth LLP. She specializes in tax issues related to high-net-worth individuals and family groups as well as estates, trusts and private foundations. She provides guidance on matters relating to income tax, estate and gift tax, foreign transaction reporting, multi-state taxation and financial planning. She has extensive experience working with successful executives in the legal and financial services industries.
Ms. LaForgia's diverse background includes positions at Paneth, Haber & Zimmerman LLP, a predecessor firm of today's firm. Prior to rejoining Marks Paneth, she worked at a boutique accounting firm, where her many duties included co-administering the tax department, managing a high-net-worth practice and recruitment.
Ms. LaForgia holds a Master of Science in Taxation (MST) from Long Island University and received that institution's Faculty Award for Academic Excellence. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Adelphi University, graduating cum laude.
Ms. LaForgia is based in Marks Paneth's Manhattan office and is licensed in New York as a Certified Public Accountant. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, serving many years on the Trust and Estate Administration Committee. She is also a member of the National Association of Female Executives and the Estate Planning Council (EPC) of New York City. In June 2014, she was elected to a three-year term on the EPC of New York City's Board of Directors and will be a Director of Accounting. In addition to her professional activities, she volunteers her time with animal rescue groups.
