Mark Levenfus, CPA, is Managing Partner Emeritus of Marks Paneth LLP and Chairman of Morison KSi, Limited, the global association of independent accounting and professional services firms.
Until December 31, 2015, Mr. Levenfus was Managing Partner of Marks Paneth. In this capacity, he oversaw the firm’s operations, managed business development efforts and consulted on key accounts. He also played a major role in developing strategy, setting policy and oversaw acquisitions.
In addition, Mr. Levenfus founded the firm’s Media and Entertainment Practice – growing it from a base of a few clients into a major division of the firm serving prominent clients. Under his leadership, the firm has worked with nearly all segments of the industry, including internet and e-commerce; telecommunications; camera and lighting equipment rental and sales; direct mail; motion picture financing; motion picture production and distribution; theatrical and television commercial production; editing and post-production; radio and television stations; book and magazine publishing; and advertising and public relations firms.
Mr. Levenfus began his career with Paneth, Haber & Zimmerman LLP. He quickly worked his way up through the ranks of that firm, becoming a Partner in 1983. He maintained a leadership role when Paneth, Haber & Zimmerman evolved, via a merger, into today’s firm and became Managing Partner in 2008 – serving in that capacity through 2015.
An active participant in trade and professional organizations, Mr. Levenfus is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the New York State Society of CPAs.
Over the years, Mr. Levenfus has donated his time and talent to a number of nonprofit organizations. He has served as the President of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies and is a current Member of the Board of Directors. Mr. Levenfus is also a Member of the Board of Directors and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of K.I.D.S. (Kids in Distressed Situations). An avid runner, he is a Member of the Audit Committee of the New York Road Runners Club. In addition, Mr. Levenfus is also involved in Israel Bonds and is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Israel Sci-Tech Schools. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of UJA, Westchester Business and Professional Division.
Mr. Levenfus holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York and has completed graduate studies in Accounting at Baruch College also of the City University of New York. He is licensed to practice in New York and is based in Marks Paneth’s Manhattan headquarters. He resides in Scarsdale, New York.
