Martin A. Edelstein, CPA, JD, LLM. is a Senior Manager at Marks Paneth LLP where he is in charge of the Tax Examination and Tax Controversy Unit of the Tax Department. He has nearly 35 years of experience which encompasses a wide variety of practice areas including individual, partnership, corporate, estates and trusts, as well as international taxation. Mr. Edelstein’s responsibilities include liaising with Partners and Principals and all layers of senior management when presented with IRS and State and Local notices, examinations and collection issues. He is also a member of the firm’s China Desk team.
Mr. Edelstein holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Brooklyn College, a Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School, and an LLM. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and has been admitted to the US Tax Court as well as the US Supreme Court.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA) as well as numerous Bar Associations. Mr. Edelstein is licensed to practice public accounting in New York. He is based in Marks Paneth’s New York City headquarters and resides in Brooklyn.
