John N. Evans
Partner-in-Charge, New Jersey Office


John N. Evans, CPA, brings nearly 40 years of experience in corporate tax to his role as the Partner-in-Charge of Mark Paneth’s New Jersey office. He specializes in tax issues affecting closely held businesses and their owners. He has worked on tax matters related to conversions of large, multinational C corporations into S corporations including planning to minimize the tax on subsequent dividend distributions. He has reorganized S corporations and limited liability companies (LLCs) so that they could go public and has helped take public companies private. He has also advised closely held businesses on organizing and expanding their international operations and has provided guidance for several complex, tax-free like kind exchanges.

Mr. Evans has practiced public accounting since 1978. He has held numerous leadership positions at both global and national professional services firms, including serving as the worldwide deputy director for enterprise services. In that role, he focused on the business and tax issues that impact both start-up and closely held businesses as well as their owners.
