Rafael U. Vasquez, CPA, is a Director in the Real Estate Group at Marks Paneth LLP. With nearly 20 years of public accounting experience, Mr. Vasquez serves commercial and residential real estate clients as well as real estate management companies – advising on all facets of accounting and tax matters.

Mr. Vasquez also provides audit and accounting services to real estate investment trusts (REITs) as well as private real estate companies and other closely held businesses. He specializes in the formation of public REITs – providing services including the preparation of GAAP-based financial statements and other documentation in accordance with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) requirements. He has assisted his clients in preparing for audits, prepared accounting memorandums on complex matters and assisted with the training and development of internal accounting departments. In addition, he performs GAAP-basis audits of private real estate investment companies – some of which have SEC reporting requirements.

Mr. Vasquez brings additional experience in tax compliance for high-net-worth individuals and closely held businesses, including partnerships and limited liability companies.

In addition to his client-facing responsibilities, Mr. Vasquez develops and delivers staff training on complex real estate accounting and audit issues for junior members of the Real Estate Group.
