Marks Paneth Appoints Keith Peterka as Partner-in-Charge of Its Professional Standards Group

Marks Paneth LLP has named Keith Peterka, CPA, 45, as Partner-in-Charge of the accounting firm's Professional Standards Group. The group oversees overall compliance with and implementation of accounting, auditing and attestation standards set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).

Mr. Peterka has more than 20 years of experience dealing with complex auditing and financial reporting issues. He has extensive experience advising clients on business combinations, fair value, variable interest entities and revenue recognition issues. Additionally, during his assignments in Europe and Asia, Mr. Peterka worked with middle-market and multinational clients on issues relating to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP).

Mr. Peterka holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Robert Morris University. He is a resident of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and is based in the firm's headquarters in Manhattan. Before joining Marks Paneth in 2014, he worked in the Professional Standards Group at CBIZ/Mayer Hoffman McCann PC. Mr. Peterka also worked for the PCAOB and is a member of the AICPA's Technical Issues Committee.
