New York, NY (January 5, 2021) – Top 100 accounting, tax and advisory firm Marks Paneth LLP, has appointed Neil Sonenberg and Michael Siino as Co-Partners-in-Charge of the firm’s Real Estate Group. They succeed Abe Schlisselfeld, who became Managing Partner of the firm on January 1 and serves alongside Harry Moehringer, who also formerly led the Real Estate Group prior to assuming his current position of Managing Partner in 2012.
The Real Estate Group, one of the oldest and largest practice groups within the firm, has recently been expanding its service offerings and geographic reach. Mr. Sonenberg and Mr. Siino both bring the strategic skills and industry knowledge that will help continue this expansion and meet the challenges of the coming years.
Mr. Sonenberg has been serving the real estate industry for nearly 40 years, applying his sophisticated expertise in tax planning for corporations and partnerships, with a special focus on co-ops and condominiums. Mr. Siino has over 30 years of public accounting experience and serves commercial and residential real estate clients as well as real estate management companies, advising on all facets of accounting and tax issues. He has a particular specialty in the investment side focusing on REITs and real estate funds with SEC filing requirements.
“Both Neil and Mike have a great deal of experience serving many of the firm’s high-profile clients and have exhibited the necessary leadership skills and business acumen to enable them to build on Abe’s impressive legacy,” said Harry Moehringer. “I look forward to working with them as they help execute our strategy to expand our client base, service offerings and geographic footprint.”
“Marks Paneth’s Real Estate Group has earned a reputation as a formidable player in the real estate market,” said Abe Schlisselfeld. “As co-heads, Neil and Mike will provide the diverse ideas and viewpoints we need to continue offering our clients the deep expertise they’ve come to expect from us, as well as the hands-on, personal service that is a hallmark of the firm.”
