About

Jennifer Prendamano, JD, is a Director in the Tax Services Group at Marks Paneth LLP. To this role, she brings nearly 20 years’ experience in tax controversy matters at the federal, state and local levels as well as strategic state tax planning and consulting.

Ms. Prendamano routinely handles complex state and local tax issues for large, multi-state corporations as well as high-net-worth individuals, and focuses on IRS examinations, state and local income tax examinations at both the corporate and individual levels, and sales and use tax examinations. In addition, she handles appeals for income tax, corporate tax and sales and use tax audits.  She also has experience in performing state and local income tax and sales tax nexus studies for clients to help them determine their sales and use tax and state and local income tax filing responsibilities based on evolving state and local laws. Her other areas of focus include assisting clients in obtaining voluntary disclosure agreements, penalty abatements, offers in compromise, the withdrawal and/or release of tax warrants, levies and liens, and assisting in obtaining installment payment agreements or alternate payment arrangements for taxpayers who are subject to collection action.

Among her accomplishments in the audit defense area, Ms. Prendamano successfully represented an $8 billion healthcare company in various state sales and use tax audits including California, Florida, Illinois, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas, which resulted in a combined sales and use tax savings of over $5 million. In addition, she has assisted various large multi-state corporations in obtaining significant sales and use tax refunds by performing sales and use tax reverse audits and filing refund claims on their behalf.

Ms. Prendamano is admitted to practice before the New York State Supreme Court.
