About

Christopher D. Wright, JD, CPA, Partner in the Private Client Services Group at Marks Paneth LLP, focuses on estate planning and gift, estate and trust taxation.

With over 30 years of experience in accounting, tax and nonprofit organizations, Mr. Wright is adept at working with clients and their professional advisors to assist in developing estate plans that provide both estate tax savings and efficient transfer of assets to the next generation and to charitable organizations. His estate planning experience includes a special focus on the changing needs of same-sex couples.

Mr. Wright also advises trustees and beneficiaries on foreign grantor and non-grantor trusts, as well as gift tax planning for non-resident non-citizens (NRNC). In addition to his experience in estate planning, Mr. Wright is knowledgeable in the administration of complex estates and trusts.

Mr. Wright began his career at a Big Four accounting firm, working in their Portland, Oregon and New York offices. Prior to joining Marks Paneth in 2014, he was in private practice. His practice in Portland, Oregon focused on assisting business owners with their accounting, legal and tax needs. 

He has served on numerous nonprofit boards and since the beginning of his career has worked with nonprofits in the healthcare, arts and entertainment industries.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Estate Planning Council of New York City, Inc. (EPCNYC) as a Director of Accounting.
