Marks Paneth Announces Partner and Principal Promotions

(NEW YORK, NY-- Jan. 26, 2016) - Marks Paneth, a leading accounting, tax and advisory firm has named Marc M. Despagni, Brian L. Fox, Joseph M. Klein, Mendy Schmookler and Sibi B. Thomas as Partners and Alyssa Forslund as a Principal.
Marc M. Despagni, CPA, is a member of Marks Paneth’s Real Estate Group. Mr. Despagni serves clients across a wide range of industries. His experience includes serving large, privately-held companies involved in home heating oil, home security, factoring and asset-based lending and builders of gated communities.
Alyssa Forslund, JD, serves as General Counsel for Marks Paneth LLP. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, Ms. Forslund worked at a New York City law firm specializing in litigation. She is admitted to the bar in New York State. Ms. Forslund is also admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.
Brian L. Fox, CPA, serves as Chief Financial and Operating Officer for Marks Paneth. In this role, he heads the firm’s internal accounting, credit and collection, and cash management functions. He works closely with the firm’s Executive Committee and plays a key role in strategic planning.
Joseph M. Klein, CPA, CFE, is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Group. He provides tax and consulting services to commercial and residential real estate clients including real estate investment trusts (REITs), real estate management firms and high-net-worth individuals.
Mendy Schmookler, CPA, is a member of the Firm’s Real Estate Group. Mr. Schmookler has more than 10 years’ experience serving the real estate industry and provides his commercial and residential clients with tax and consulting services. His background includes preparing certiorari filings and operating escalations as well as multi-state corporate and partnership tax returns.
Sibi B. Thomas, CPA, CFE, CGMA, is a member of Marks Paneth’s Nonprofit and Government Group. He has more than 11 years of accounting, auditing, tax and consulting experience. Mr. Thomas plans, coordinates and conducts audits for a wide range of nonprofit organizations and has led numerous training seminars for clients and professional staff on topics related to nonprofit governance.
