Glenn D. Sacks, CPA, CFE is a Senior Director in the Advisory Services group at Marks Paneth LLP. With over 30 years of experience in public accounting, securities litigation and private industry, Mr. Sacks has developed extensive knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and forensic practices as well as deep expertise in the technology and real estate industries.

Mr. Sacks has worked at Marks Paneth since 1997 as a litigation consultant primarily assisting attorneys in class action securities litigation. He has served as the lead accounting consultant on many high-profile cases, including several of the largest class action settlements in the past 15 years. Mr. Sacks has worked with the SEC and the Department of Justice on various earnings management related cases. As a consultant, Mr. Sacks assists attorneys on complex financial accounting and reporting matters, including the interpretation and application of GAAP and GAAS. He frequently handles cases involving revenue recognition, intellectual property, impairment, reserves, equity verses debt issues, and material weaknesses in internal controls.

Mr. Sacks has worked as an audit manager for a Big Four accounting firm in its financial services industry group. In this position, he was responsible for the audit of both commercial and residential properties of a large insurance and financial services company. He also assisted in the development and implementation of an Enterprise GAAP Policy by preparing written policy backgrounds and assisting individual business units in developing statements of position and analysis. Earlier in his career, he worked for several medium-sized public accounting firms where he audited and provided tax services to mid-sized privately owned companies.

Mr. Sacks co-authored an article for the Practicing Law Institute’s Legal Malpractice Course Handbook, entitled How Litigators Can Use Accounting Experts to Enhance their Effectiveness
